Scott M. Smith, Doctor of Medical Science, Physician Assistant
Scott M. Smith is a Doctor of Medical Science, board-certified Physician Assistant, and former U.S. Army officer with more than 25 years of clinical experience. A graduate of the esteemed University of Nebraska/Interservice Physician Assistant Program, Scott went on to earn his Doctor of Medical Science from Butler University. His early medical career included extensive work in gastroenterology and dermatology, providing a strong foundation for the integrative, systems-based approach he uses today.

In 2003, Scott transitioned full-time into functional and lifestyle medicine after witnessing profound improvements in patients with chronic conditions. What began as an innovative approach for his pediatric patients quickly expanded—Scott realized that parents and entire families could benefit from the same root-cause, personalized care.

Scott’s clinical interests include methylation disorders, mitochondrial dysfunction, autoimmune disease, and gastrointestinal health. He has authored, co-authored, and presented multiple papers on key functional medicine topics, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANDAS), and comprehensive biomarker research in autism and ADHD. Most recently, he has delivered Category 1 CME education on Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).
Scott is an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the Institute for Functional Medicine. His mission is simple: empower patients with the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to reclaim their health and thrive.
